Al-Jalawi: Activating the Emergency Plan after the Sandstorms that Swept the Country

Navigation Affairs - Engineer/ Emad Faleh Al-Jalawi, affirmed that the Directorate
General of Civil Aviation has activated the emergency plan during the
sandstorms that swept the country on Monday, May 16, 2022, over a period of 24
hours.
Al-Jalawi said that due to the bad weather conditions and after the
horizontal visibility at Kuwait International Airport decreased to less than
300 meters, the emergency plan was activated in all operational sectors in the Directorate
General of Civil Aviation, especially in the air navigation sector and the
airport sector.
He stated that the air-traffic at
Kuwait International Airport witnessed a state of instability, thus it was
decided to stop the traffic of incoming flights from four thirty in the evening
until six in the evening, whereby those flights were transferred to nearby
airports, noting that later on the traffic was resumed and both the incoming
and departing flights were rescheduled.
